Environmental Impact Assessment and Public Consultation for Tenke Fungurume Mining Exploratory Drilling and Infrastructure Development in South Sudan, Jonglei State

Narrative Description of Project:

The project entailed extensive and intensive public engagement and consultations in the war-torn areas of Katanga for feedback into the Environmental Impact Assessment. We developed the Project Information Document (PID) in both English and Swahili for awareness creation on the details and operations of the intended project. Field visits and public engagement through adhoc meetings, stakeholder workshops, interviews, questionnaires, public barazas and video conferences were undertaken. A public issues and recommendations document was then compiled and engaged in the detailed EIA study.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff:

The firm prepared Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) including assembly of Project Information Document, development of awareness materials including posters, leaflets, brochures and display material. Development of questionnaires and interview guidelines. Translation of all these materials from English to Swahili. Preparation of the issues document.
