Environmental Assessment and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) of the Mugango Dam

Narrative description of Project:

NELSAP received financing from the Government of Sweden toward the cost of the Nile Equatorial Lakes Transboundary Integrated River Basin Management and Development project in the Mara, Kagera and Sio-Malaba-Malakisi river basins, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.  The consulting services (“the Services”) include preparing Environmental Assessment andResettlement Action Plans (RAPs) for Mugango Multipurpose Dam located in Nayngores River, along Mara River Basin in Kenya.

The services required involved preparing Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the small multipurpose dam. The study was undertaken within the framework of countries as well as World Bank Environment and Social Safeguard Policies.

EMC Consultants prepared a detailed Environmental Assessment and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the proposed project Mugango dam that is located along the Mara River in Nyangores River and cutting across Kenya and Tanzania.
