The East African Wildlife Society (EAWLS) through grant assistance from the United Nations Development Program, Small Grants Programs (UNDP – SGP) initiated a community water catchment conservation project in Njoro Kubwa Springs, Taveta District of Kenya. The project aimed at conserving one of the most important water sources in the district through a community driven initiative to ensure a steady and sustainable clean water supply to the communities found around the springs and in the district
Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff Within the Assignment:
- Environmental Assessment; Predict whether there will be water quality and/or biological impacts as a result of the intended project activities
- Examine the impact of interventions such as tree planting on downstream hydrology including Lake Jipe and River Ruvu.
- Identify and examine impacts of the project on physical-chemical parameters and hydrological dynamics of the spring ecosystem
- Terrestrial vegetation study Water quality and aquatic ecosystem study, Terrestrial fauna studies (mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles Socio-economic and cultural study
