Narrative Description of Project:
The Nile Basin Initiative (NBI)/ Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program has received funds from the World Bank Nile Basin Trust Fund (NBTF) towards advancing long term investments and capacity building to leverage investment opportunities in the Sio-Malaba-Malakisi river basin under the Sio-Malaba-Malakisi River Basin Management Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to make payments under a contract for consultancy services for conducting an Independent Environmental and Social Assessment (ESA) for two multipurpose small dams at Bulusambu ( Doho) and Maira within the River Basin. The Project is geared towards the development of two small dams/reservoirs at Bulusambu and Maira to serve a variety of purposes, which could include both seasonal flood control storage in addition to exclusive storage and conservation.
Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff Within the Assignment:
EMC Consultants prepared a detailed Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the proposed project that is located along the Sio-Malaba-Malakisi River and cutting across Kenya and Uganda.
