Project Description:
The Government of Ethiopia (GOE) and the Government of Sudan (GOS) represented by their respective utility companies, i.e., the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) and the Somalia Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. (SETCO), have set up a Joint Technical Committee (JTC) in 2016 for the management of the Extra High Voltage (EHV) Interconnection between Ethiopia and Sudan (the Project). The proposed 590 km long interconnector extends from the Guba substation in southwestern Ethiopia (about 15 km to the border with Sudan) to the New Jabal Aulia substation (near Khartoum) via New Rabak with a power carrying capacity of up to 3,000 MW.
