Narrative description of Project:

NELSAP received financing from the Government of Sweden toward the cost of the Nile Equatorial Lakes Transboundary Integrated River Basin Management and Development project in the Mara, Kagera and Sio-Malaba-Malakisi river basins, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

The services included Updating the Independent Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment (ESIA) and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) of two small multipurpose storage reservoirs of Norera  and Borenga located in Kenya and Tanzania respectively, within the Mara River Basin.

The services required involved reviewing and updating Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment, Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) and Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) for the two small multipurpose dams. The study will be undertaken within the framework of countries as well as World Bank Environment and Social Safeguard Policies.

Description of Actual Services Provided by Your Staff Within the Assignment:

EMC Consultants prepared ESIA and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) for the proposed project that is located along the Sio-Malaba-Malakisi River and cutting across Kenya and Uganda.
